“Low self-confidence isn’t a life sentence. Self-confidence can be learned, practiced, and mastered — just like any other skill. Once you master it, everything in your life will change for the better.”
– Barrie Davenport
A short quote that is important to remember.
Before these last five or so years, I was an extremely insecure person. I was insecure about my body, my appearance, and how I came off to people. I did not feel confident, and so I didn’t put myself or my ideas out into the world.
Within these last five years, I’ve gotten to experience life in a way that shifted my attitudes about myself and others. I realized that although I’m a little different from others, I’m no lesser in value. I grew from thinking I’m unattractive, to feeling like I’m beautiful; from being painfully shy, to being able to talk when I want to; from fearing failure, to embracing the lessons it can teach me.
The truth is, you don’t have to have to be “perfect” to be valued by yourself or others. All of us have at least one amazing quality, even if you can’t see just how amazing it is yet. You have something of value to offer the world.
So start being a little more nice to yourself with each day. Remember what makes you feel alive, and go do those things.
Most importantly, be patient with yourself on this journey. Learn how to forgive yourself if you make a mistake, because we all do. All good things take time and practice.
Have a wonderful night,
